I don’t even know where to start with this because it’s been such a long, drawn-out nightmare. I work for a landscaping company in Highland—mostly hardscaping, so lots of lifting pavers, hauling stone, running equipment. About two years ago I was helping move a massive slab of bluestone when my foreman shouted something and I turned the wrong way while lifting. Felt something tear in my lower back and I’ve never been the same since. I’ve had two rounds of physical therapy, epidural injections, seen three different specialists, and nobody seems to agree on what’s actually wrong or how to fix it. The insurance company has been fighting me every step of the way—denying this procedure, questioning that doctor’s opinion, sending me to their own doctors who say I should be fine even though I can barely bend over to tie my shoes anymore. I’ve been living on reduced workers comp checks for so long that I’m starting to forget what my normal paycheck even looked like. My wife has been amazing but I can see the stress wearing on her too, and I’m starting to feel like I’m never going to get out of this hole. I’ve been putting off hiring anyone because I kept thinking the next treatment would work and then I’d be back to work and this would all be behind me. But now I’m realizing that might not happen and I need someone who can actually help me navigate this mess. I’ve been looking for a back injury workers comp attorney Highland who understands that these cases aren’t simple and that sometimes the insurance company will just keep dragging things out hoping you’ll give up. I’m not giving up but I’m exhausted. Has anyone else been stuck in a back injury case that just wouldn’t end? How did you finally get it resolved? I could really use some hope right now because honestly some days I feel like I’m never going to get my life back.
